Terms for using CameoScope

These Terms of Service govern your use of CameoScope, an AI-assisted grading and valuation app for hand-carved cameos and intaglios operated by X WING (昔羽堂). By using the iOS app, you agree to these terms.

1. What CameoScope provides

CameoScope looks at the photos and details you submit, gives a carving-quality grade where it can, and gives a price guide based on comparable sold lots, which it shows where available. The guide is shown in US dollars as a range. It does not predict what you could sell for.

The service is intended for research, collecting and market orientation. It is not a formal written appraisal, authentication certificate, condition report, financial advice, legal advice, tax advice, insurance valuation or guarantee of sale price. CameoScope does not authenticate objects and never states that an item is genuine, fake or a reproduction. AI results can be wrong.

Intaglios are valued but not graded. The app asks you to confirm a valuation-only appraisal before it runs.

2. Accounts

The iOS app uses Sign in with Apple to create and manage your account. You are responsible for keeping access to your Apple account secure. You can delete your account in the app under Account → Delete account, or by emailing admin@x-wing.one.

3. Credits, subscriptions and what is charged

• New users may receive free welcome credits, once per Apple account.
• An appraisal that returns a price with market references uses 1 credit, or 1 appraisal from your subscription allowance.
• Before an appraisal, the app checks your photos. If the check raises a warning and you choose to continue, the appraisal is charged once it has run, as stated on the confirmation screen, even when no grade or price can be given.
• Service failures on our side — timeouts, interruptions or a busy server — are not charged.
• Purchased credits are consumable digital goods. They do not expire, have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.
• A subscription allowance applies to each billing period. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your Apple ID settings.
• Purchases are processed by Apple and validated through RevenueCat. We do not receive your card details. Refund requests are handled under Apple's App Store policies.
• If Apple refunds a purchase whose credits were already used, we deduct those credits from your balance. Your balance can go below zero until you top up. No appraisal is charged twice.

4. Limits

• Each account can run one appraisal at a time.
• A chargeable result that you have not yet opened counts as an appraisal in progress for up to 24 hours.
• Each account can have a limited number of appraisals accepted per day — currently 20 — whether or not they are charged. The count resets at 00:00 UTC.
• The photo check runs only when your account has enough credits or subscription allowance for one appraisal; otherwise the app shows the purchase page first. The photo check itself is not charged, and each account can run up to 20 photo checks a day.

5. Valuation limitations

Prices for cameos and other collectibles vary widely with authenticity, material, condition, restoration, mount, provenance, photography, market timing, sale venue and the quality of the comparable sales available. Treat CameoScope's grade and estimate as one research input, not a final market truth.

6. Your content

You are responsible for the photos and descriptions you submit. Only upload content that you own, have permission to use, or are otherwise permitted to process for appraisal research. Do not submit illegal, infringing, deceptive or harmful content.

7. Auction references and third-party rights

CameoScope may display limited factual market references such as the seller or auction house name, lot title, sale date and realised price. Names, trademarks and source data remain the property of their respective owners. CameoScope is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any auction house or marketplace unless explicitly stated.

8. Acceptable use

You may not abuse the service, attempt to bypass credit accounting, scrape the API, reverse engineer protected parts of the app, overload the servers, or use the service to build a competing dataset in a way that violates third-party rights.

Our handling of account data, photos, appraisal content and purchase records is described in the Privacy Policy.
